A microperforated panel (MPP) absorber consists of thin panels (<1.0 mm thickness) with microholes (≤1.0 mm diameter) at a perforation rate of 1–5%, backed by an air cavity (5–20 cm thick) without additional absorbent material. This design creates a low acoustic mass and high acoustic resistance resonant structure. The sound absorption coefficient and bandwidth depend on the panel’s acoustic mass (*m*) and resistance (*r*), which correlate with hole diameter (*d*) and perforation rate (*p*).

Key Features of MPP Mufflers:

       ● Material: Stainless steel microperforated panels with corrosion-resistant metal mesh filling for harsh environments (e.g., petrochemical plants).

       ● Performance: High absorption coefficient, broad frequency bandwidth, low pressure loss, minimal airflow-generated noise.

       ● Design: Typically uses a three-stage MPP structure for wideband absorption. Cavity dimensions vary by target frequency:

          ○ Low-frequency: 150–200 mm

          ○ Mid-frequency: 80–120 mm

          ○ High-frequency: 30–50 mm

       ● Optimization: Front cavity depth < rear cavity (ratio ≤1:3); higher perforation rate on the front panel. Transverse baffles spaced every 500 mm reduce axial noise propagation.
       Advantages:

       Maintains >15 dBA noise reduction even at 70 m/s airflow velocity (where conventional mufflers fail).

       Anti-Jet Resistance Muffler Design
       This muffler combines microperforated panel principles with a multi-stage pressure reduction system:

       1、Flow Control: High-pressure steam passes through a controlled flow into an expansion chamber, reducing pressure.

       2、Noise Absorption: Low-pressure steam exits through microholes, with residual noise absorbed by an external acoustic barrier.

       3、Performance: Achieves >35 dB(A) noise reduction (stage ratios: 35% primary, 50% secondary, 15% tertiary).
